Moving into Position
There were moves all over the leaderboard during Round 2 of the 2024 United States Amateur Disc Golf Championship on Saturday.
That includes the top.
Colorado's Lucas Carmichael turned in his second-straight solid round on the Toboggan track in Milford, Michigan to open a three-stroke lead heading into Championship Sunday at this PDGA Major.
Carmichael (-10) matched his opening round of 5-under with another 5-under performance and leads Ryan Monn (-7) by three strokes with 18 holes to go. It was a colorful front nine for Carmichael, who had three-straight birdies before a double bogey on five. He followed that up with a birdie and then had a 275-foot throw-in on the seventh. He went 6-for-6 from C1X and had three makes from circle 2 on the green.
Ross Kimbrell jumped six spots into a tie for third at 6-under with Ethan Owens to round out the final group heading into Sunday.
The hot rounds belonged to Harrison Young and Brock Tennyson, who jumped 49 and 90 spots, respectively. Young sits a 4-under overall and will be on the chase card. Tennyson is tied for 22nd.
Things can change quickly on the Toboggan and there's one more round to make moves into position for one player to add a PDGA Major to their resume.
