After extreme weather atnd flooding dampened the pre-event days, the skies cleared on Tuesday and, if the Round 1 action was any indication, it's going to be a battle to the finish in Emporia, Kansas.

Nineteen of the divisions are separated by fewer than three strokes after the first of five rounds, including 12 by just one stroke and three that are tied.

In the MP40 and FP40 divisions, the defending champions made an opening-round statement.

Just two days removed from a second-place finish on the Disc Golf Pro Tour, Ohn Scoggins arrived in Kansas from Oregon and dropped a 1011-rated opening round for a six-stroke lead in FP40 over Jennifer Allen and Estonia's Kaire Tekku. Scoggins finished with two eagles on the day and just one bogey.

Entering the week looking for the three-peat, Joe Rovere got the title defense going right out of the gate in a loaded MP40 field. The Colorado native birdied six-straight on the front nine at Champion's Landing and added the only eagle in the entire field for a sizzling 12-under, 1071-rated round for a four-stroke lead over Eric McCabe and Jeff Faes.
