These four first events of 2023 PDGA Euro Tour have shown us a great variety of Disc Golf terrains: the thick woods of Pro Forester, the extra wide fairways of Konopiste, the ever-present OBs of Krokhol and now the narrow fairways and root ground of Swedish Open presented by Kastaplast.

And who would prevail in the forests of Borås? Again two new young players “surprised” getting hot seat for quite a long time: first it was Norwegian Peter Lunde with an 8-under (only a double bogey in hole 9 prevented him from scoring a bogey-free 1060ish round) and then Dennis Augustsson went even further with 9-under, managing that blemish-free round.

Niklas Anttila

“Big guns” came strong behind: Niklas Anttila chained a couple of turkeys and played smart, getting the par where he should to and tied Augustsson arriving to the hardest hole of the course, the 18th. Paul McBeth was struggling slightly with his tee shots — if we can call struggling — to arrive with 9-under to that last hole.

The wind had picked up noticeably, and this hole emerged from the woods to a more open central part where it quite affected the flights of the discs, bringing them whether to the OB right or to the slope full of bushes on the left to test the player's scrambling abilities —and both of them had to! The Finnish “survived” with a bogey, but the American suffered an early tree kick trying to return to the fairway -"you gotta be kiddin' me" was heard in DGN broadcast, and a double bogey took him to fourth overall, two strokes behind Dennis Augustsson, who became round leader!

Veteran Emil Dahlgren (Sweden) tied for that same spot, same as Denish Hjalte Jensen, who is improving his game and comes full of confidence after becoming National Champion last week.

Silva Saarinen

A wet and fresh morning in Boråswas the first clear difference from the sunny and hot rounds last weekend in Krokhol. Second difference was that Norwegian Anniken Steen is back at her level and fighting for victory with last winner Silva Saarinen (Finland) in a great battle!

Silva had an uneven start with two birdies and two bogeys, while the Norwegian made a very solid front nine to enter tied in the second half of the round and up to hole 17, where two back-to-back birdies from the Finnish and a double bogey blemish on the until then bogey-free round from the Norwegian settled the final four strokes difference.

The other half of the feature card, Swedes Sofie Björlycke and Hanna Jansson heldeven par until hole 15, but a rough round finish sent them to T8 and T11 positions, respectively.

The ones that climbed from other cards to lead card tomorrow were another new value in Swedish Disc Golf, Amanda Lennartsson and the winner of PDGA Euro Tour #1 in Pro Forester (Croatia), Estonian Marianne Must.
