History was made on Sunday at the 2024 PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships presented by Zuca.

Eveliina Salonen battled through adversity and, in the end, hoisted the trophy at Ivy Hill Golf Club outside of Lynchburg, Virginia to become the first player from Finland to ever win at PDGA World Championship.

In the afternoon, Isaac Robinson joined elite company after a week of steady play to become the fifth player overall to defend his PDGA World Championship, joining Ken Climo, Barry Schultz, Paul McBeth and Ricky Wysocki. It's the first title defense since Wysocki in 2017 and just the third time for a player to go wire-to-wire at Worlds. Climo and Schultz also accomplished that feat.

Salonen battled through some putting woes and a surging Kat Mertsch in a wild final round as the leaderboard changed rapidly between her, Mertsch and Holyn Handley. Mertsch started the cleanest and had four-straight birdies. Salonen surged late, really sealing the deal down the stretch with three-straight birdies.

Mertsch finished second, two strokes behind Salonen, for her best finish at a PDGA Major. Kristin Tattar threatened throughout the week, including the last day, but eventually rallied for a third-place finish.

Robinson started his day 6-under through the first eight holes and never really left the door cracked for anyone to knock him from the top of the leaderboard.

Niklas Antilla finished second, four strokes back, and Eagle McMahon jumped two spots to third for a podium finish.
