Taking on the Boulders track at North Cove for the first time, Halfaday and Dupre fired off a three-under round of 57, the hottest round by five strokes over Missouri to cut the deficit of 10 strokes down to five with 18 holes to play.

Saturday’s finale shifts back to the River Run course. Missouri has rounds of 52 and 47 on River Run, while Ferris State turned in back-to-back rounds of 55 earlier in the week.

Brigham Young’s Devri Tanner and Hannah Hunter are in third place.

On the men’s side, Illinois State skyrocketed to the top of the leaderboard with a strong showing in singles action, in which all the scores from the team are averaged and added to the overall team standings.

On Friday, back to team play on the Boulders course, Illinois State put it all together with the hot round of 45 to build a two-stroke lead at the top.

Ferris State, who was in second placed, was disqualified from the team competition due to an eligibility issue set forth by College Disc Golf.

That bumped Appalachian State into second place at 19-under par, two strokes back with 18 holes to play on the challenging Gorge course.

But it’s anyone’s game with three teams – Missouri, Iowa State and Texas – three strokes back at 18-under. Liberty and Northern Arizona are 17-under.

Just call it April Madness.
