Course Reviews
The course was absolutely beautiful! That being said, it cost me $11 to get in with my dog, and then my buddies meeting me there had to pay ANOTHER $10. We got there at 330pm not realizing that they have a park cop drive around and kick everyone out at 5pm (we didn't even get to finish our game). The tees are very scattered and were difficult to locate and make sense of, even with the aid of the abstract and confusing xerox'd copies of the course map. I suppose if I got here early, all my friends and I carpooled to split the steep entrance fee, and remember the layout of the course we will enjoy ourselves much more. I will update my review if/when that day occurs....
wow, most fun i've had in so cal since playing wrightwood!
good: not many people, played saturday at noon tee time, only saw a few other groups out there, never waited ONCE to tee or putt! beautiful manicured fairways, lake/mountain views, didn't smell the cows. lots of variations of drives, rollers, sidearms, power hyzers, thumbers. fun times, will definitely be back. great for family as there is lots of fishing available and those little paddle boats to cruise the lake. bbq. you can leave and come back on same entry fee.
bad: $10/car on weekends (great result is that not many people are out there enjoying these new innova discatchers!) no picknickers on this side of park, they were on other side.
This is an awesome course. Very efficient use of the space. Rolling grass hills, alongside a serene Prado Lake, abundant wildlife and beautiful views of the mountains that surround. Hole 1 starts right by the parking lot, restrooms, benches, and practice basket. Very nice Innova Discatcher baskets, level and well anchored in the ground. Make sure you get a course map from the ranger at the gate, as the tees can be hard to find. Grass tees are a nice change from the norm, especially because you can easily start as far back as you want. In the early morning the tees can be slick, though.
The worst part about this course is the city of Chino smells like cow dung. The park is not as bad as the rest of Chino, but still has a "farmy" smell. Some of the grass tees are uneven. Hole 9's tee was horribly placed, if it was 5 feet forward it would be great but instead they chose to slam it up against a damn. Hole 10's tee is also horribly placed as it is slammed against the road in a ditch. Only about three quarters of the tees have the distance marked. EVERYTHING you do on this course is in public view. It costs money to get inside the park $7 a car (weekdays) and $2 for walkers. I walked in the first time I played this course, and got my $2 worth, as I played three rounds.
With a little more work, this course could easily be a solid 4. Needs tee signs, so you can find the tees, and cement or rubber tees, as the grass tees are slowly turning into dirt/mud tees as more people play this course.
* First Tee coordinates are dead wrong. (33.564,-117.391). They put this course about 50 miles south in the Cleveland National Forest. Which really sucks because that's where the course shows up on the course directory map.
I really enjoyed the course, but where i live it is extremely out of the way. The course was nice and open had plenty of trees. I did like the stones on the ground that said what hole it was and how far, but the one thing i didnt like was that each hole was hard to find. There was only stones on the ground some had little orange flags and others didnt so it made it a little difficult to find each tee. When we were paying we said we where playing disc golf and they did give us a map of where each tee was, but once again a little hard to find. Today there wasnt a lot of people there i guess you have to choose the right time and right day. Once you got to the tees the holes were in sight, and some of the holes are pretty tricky. The first 9 holes you had to be careful because if you threw it a little wrong there was the risk of losing your disc in the water or lost in these large bush type of plants sticking out of the water. We were waiting behind these people that lost a disc in the tall bush things and that looked for at least 30mins each time... They lost it about on 3 separate holes. Overall It was a fun course to try out, some complicated holes, very very very long, you had to pay which sucked, and some holes were hard to find, and it was just a lot of fun.
Great course for mid-week play. Could be near impossible to play on weekends. You could shorten the course on weekends. Lake can come into play on a few holes and some tee shots got to be perfect for any chance at birdies. Tough to find some tees but heard they were making new signs for the course. We played it as all par 3s but think a few holes might be par 4s. Have fun.

This course is literally 3 minutes from my house so it's fun to play but does cost $8 and weekdays and $10 on weekends to get into the state park. The entry does last all day so you could easily play a couple of rounds or take the family to hang out in the park while you play. Get there early enough in the mornings to see he ferrets running around on some of the back 9 holes! There are three holes that play near the lake but the entire course is doable, even for a beginner like myself.
