Just played this course for the first time just before Thanksgiving on my way up to Santa Cruz Ca to be with my family.. I would have to say first timers get a guide.. My friend and I spent a good 5 to 10 mins. finding the baskets for each hole. I would recommend this course to all level of players. I had a great time and the course is well laid out.. Better signage could have made the experience better since they have multiple pin locations for most holes. The locals were friendly and helpful. Good cement tee pads and nice innova targets were a plus. I really enjoyed the trees and use of rolling hills to make this course challenging!! Almost made this course a 5 chainer but poor signage and distance were off so I only gave it 4.. But if your anywhere near this course and are looking for a good challenge.. It's a must play! Enjoy =)

Hole #5 is a super signature hole. Most holes are fairly technical. I liked #18 (~350') a lot also - over the hill and tall trees with a big hyzer 350'. Nice amenities - bathrooms, water, picnic tables, BBQ pits, and a playground. Several holes lacked challenge, straight shots 200'. Great mid-range or Straightus course. My favorite in the SLO area. Maybe a 3.5 (not a 5 though).

This is my home course, so I am a bit bias, but having played the majority of the courses in Califnornia and Arizona, I can safely say this course is in my top 5. Love the Oaks and challenging shots that the architects have created using the varied landscape. If you don't do well in tight shots this course will eat you up. The course can play very easy, but most often there is plenty of distance and creative pin locations to challenge even the most advanced players. There are a variety of shots (lefts, rights, up and over, and elevation changes and multiple positions for each hole... the local clubs keep it interesting by changing the holes at least once a week and constantly adding new pin locations! It plays different almost every time I am out... Thanks to SlO throwers and the North County crew for making this course all that it is. And with alcohol permited at the park this course gets a 5 chain rating from me. A guide is recomended on the back if its your first time out.
