Drive for the Championship

The Vibram Open at Maple Hill Farm in Leicester, Massachusetts is one of the most highly anticipated tournaments of the year.  Not only is the course at Maple Hill one of the most picturesque and amusing courses the players see all season, it is also possibly the most challenging.  It is the perfect place to test the will and determination of the world’s fiercest competitors.  Appropriately, the Open wraps up the National Tour Elite Series presented by Vibram, which means there are winners of the event, but there are also Champions of the National Tour.  As we bring the season to a close,

The 2013 National Tour Elite Series sponsored by Vibram Disc Golf features the top players in the Men’s and Women’s Open divisions as they compete in the fifth annual Drive for the Championship. This points based series consists of the first seven National Tour events plus the series finale, the Vibram Open. Points are awarded based on the competitor’s order of finish in an individual event.  Series points from a player’s top five National Tour finishes from the first seven events plus the points from the final stop on the tour, the Vibram Open, will determine the 2013 PDGA Tour Series Champion.

Kicking off with The Memorial Championship in Arizona, the 2012 PDGA National Tour Elite Series presented by Vibram Disc Golf looks to raise the bar for our marquis events.

The 2011 points race looks like to be an exciting year as we had two players who won their first ever National Tour event. Paige Pierce’s victory over Valarie Jenkins on the last hole gives her an early lead but Valarie did win last year’s “Drive for the Championship” and five National Tour events last year.

Rock Hill, South Carolina--When David Feldberg stepped up to the 254th throw of his grueling four day encounter with one of disc golf’s most renowned courses at Winthrop Gold, he believed that this single putt would determine whether his incredible accomplishments during the 2010 season would be fulfilling or a flop.
