PDGA Requirements for Reclassification from Professional to Amateur

Professional-class PDGA Members may request to be reclassified to Amateur-class but must meet the requirements below to be eligible. Please contact the Event Support Team with your request for reclassification.

  1. The player has not accepted cash while competing in a Professional division within the past year.
  2. The player has not previously been reclassified from Pro to Amateur within the past five years.
  3. The player's rating is under the following thresholds based on their current PDGA age:

PLAYERS ELIGIBLE ONLY FOR MIXED DIVISIONS

  • less than 970 for players under 40 years of age on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 920 for players age 40-49 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 910 for players age 50-54 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 905 for players age 55-59 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 900 for players age 60-64 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 885 for players age 65-69 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 860 for players age 70-74 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 840 for players age 75 or older on their birthday in the current calendar year

PLAYERS ELIGIBLE FOR BOTH MIXED AND WOMEN-ONLY DIVISIONS

  • less than 875 for players under 40 years of age on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 820 for players age 40-49 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 805 for players age 50-54 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 795 for players age 55-59 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 790 for players age 60-64 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 785 for players age 65-69 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 740 for players age 70-74 on their birthday in the current calendar year
  • less than 720 for players age 75 or older on their birthday in the current calendar year

A player who meets requirements #1 and #2 above, but whose player rating does not meet requirement #3 above, may request a medical exemption reclassification, but only due to a permanent injury or condition that will prevent them from ever playing at their former level.
