From simply spending time together through exercise, to helping, encouraging and even competing, disc golf has been a shared activity for a number of players who have found their forever doubles partner.

There have been engagements and weddings on the disc golf course. In a lot of cases, disc golf has become a sport for the entire family.

In honor of Valentine's Day, we asked players on our social media platforms about their rounds with their significant others and how disc golf is different than the other activities that they do together.

Check out some of the disc golf love stories:

It's been an amazing opportunity to give back together; we ran our first tournament together in 2020 and have been active on the boards of various disc golf clubs. It's such a big part of our story that we got married at Cedar Creek Open! – Sarah C.

Well, I used to beg my husband to go on walks with me for exercise. He said, “The only way I’ll walk with you is if it’s on the disc golf course. “So, I went from literally hitting the person standing next to me with my drive, to 3 years later actually playing more than my husband! Every weekend I’m out playing multiple rounds with my husband and “the guys”. It’s different from other activities we do together … because it’s really the ONLY activity we do together anymore! It gives us a chance to be competitive, social and get in some exercise. – Colleen M.

Honestly, I don't know if we'd be together if we didn't have disc golf. We have a great bond, but having this shared activity is something special that has made us grow together as a couple. We support each other, go on disc golf adventures together, and give each other tips to help our game grow. I can always count on him to say the perfect thing if I'm struggling in a tournament and he's the first person to congratulate me when I do well. – Nicole M.

My wife and I had our first date at a disc golf course, and she introduced me to the sport. We have thrown 100s of rounds together since and she has become my caddy and rock I lean on during tournaments. I proposed to her on our yearly trip to Sandy Point Disc Golf Ranch and Resort. We also had our honeymoon at Sandy Point and go there every October for a week or more. Needless to say, this sport has, is and will always be a huge part of our lives. – Tom G.

I love when my wife Holly comes with me. She talks smack, carries beverages, but motivates me to play better. Sometimes just by the look on her face. Just having her on the course with me means the world to me. – Miguel

We met at a putting league 7 years or so ago, we both came alone and were random draw partners. First date was two rounds of 18 holes in the winter later that week. We had both played tournaments for years yet somehow didn't know each other at all. PDGA numbers #39726 and #54885.

Now we have a (almost) 2 year old whose PDGA number is #134007. Love you Kira Damusis and future world champ Logan. There will be many rounds together for years to come. – Nate W.

My husband Mike is my biggest cheerleader. He encourages me to try different discs, grips, stances, etc.

About a year after we met, we went on a 7 state disc golf journey and got married on the beach half way through. Although we are older, he has encouraged me to start competing again, so at 60, I just entered my first C Tier event. Keep watching for me, I'll be playing the A Tiers really soon. (Of course in my age appropriate group- over 60).

Things have really changed over the course of the years, but one thing that hasn't, is our love for the game.

Wouldn't be on this journey with anyone else. – Debbie M

Look, PDGA. I didn’t need you to remind me how single I am. – Colin G.

My husband was the one who got me (and our girls) hooked. I'm honestly more excited when he gets a great shot than when I do but I still love how encouraging he always is and that despite being a much stronger player than I am he is always patient with the fact that I take a little longer and he's always willing to help me find a line or choose a disc. Even though I average about 20-25 strokes more than him on any given round, he's always quick to call it out when I have a nice drive or putt and celebrate my successes on my level just like he would playing with another player on his.

He has never made me feel like the tag along wife when playing with him and friends despite nearly always being the only female unless one of our girls is with us. Not being made to feel like I didn't belong out there is probably a large part of why I've gotten as involved in the sport as I have. I'm still not a strong player, but I'll be TDing or Co-TDing 7 events and running two local leagues this year and he's definitely a huge part of why I've had the confidence to start doing those things. – Molly M.

When we first met, he told me about disc golf. I hated it at first, but then I decided to give it another try a few months later. It has been an obsession ever since. It has become our favorite activity to do together, and now I am pushing my way to moving up to pro. He has been so supportive, and I am so thankful he introduced me to this amazing sport. We even got our engagement photos done on a disc golf course. – Alex S.

I met my significant other through disc golf, and that’s the main thing we do together now (and pretty much the only thing).

Honestly being able to compete against each other, learn from each other, & watch each other grow in the sport we both love is something that can’t compare to anything else.

Being able to be outside doing the thing we both love most has made our relationship & friendship so much better. – Taylor P.
