PDGA Euro Tour # 2 - Konopiště Open
DAY 2 - SATURDAY

Disc golf tournaments are not like highways, with twists, turns and ups and downs…
Anneli Tõugjas-Männiste (Estonia), Sofie Björlycke (Sweden) and Kristi Unt (Estonia) each had their share of ups and downs during round two, each scoring +2. This brought which brought yesterday’s leader, Tõugjas-Männiste, to second place while Sofie and Kristi went down to fourth.
Some attention was being drawn to the chase card because Estonian Keidi Allsalu managed to present a -4 card to climb up two positions and tie with Tõugjas-Männiste for second. Except for a small blemish on hole 4, Allsalu played a solid round with a particularly good back nine with four birdies from holes 12 to 16.
And British Rachel Turton told us yesterday in the post-round interview that she felt confident about her game and she clearly proved it! Shaving one stroke over yesterday, the -7 in the overall standings gives her a four-stroke gap over second. She had a very good back nine yesterday and a very good front nine today.
MPO
Have you ever dreamed of playing a “speed golf” round on a top-level course and scoring a -14? That is what we have lived Saturday at the Konopiste Open!
A heavy thunderstorm obliged the organization to delay, on three occasions, the start of part of the MPO field. Tee time for the lead card was 19:00, and sunset would be 2 hours and 12 minutes after, so players opted to rush – and some of them literally to run – to finish their rounds while there was a bit of light.
And from the half-light emerged with all its splendor the figure of Paul McBeth, who gave an incredible bogey-free -14 card (rated 1078). In the interview, he declared that the delay was even beneficial for him, as he had more time to dial in his forehand after yesterday’s struggles.
The other big favorite, the Finnish Niklas Anttila, improved his score by one stroke to -12 on a remarkable round in which he declared that “I could barely see the basket from 20 meters putting in hole 18”.
Now he sees the American only two strokes behind in the overall classification. The battle Sunday is going to be epic!
But they are not the only ones with options for the win: Daniel Davidsson made a solid -9 that means third position, and local Jakub Semerád lost a bit of steam with an -8 but still managed to hold on to the lead card tomorrow in front of an ever-growing gallery.
