Greetings from the beautiful city of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand! We would like to once again express our appreciation for the PDGA's support of Thailand Disc Golf!

In March 2024 the PDGA contributed $3000 via the Marco Polo Grant which was then used for three projects:

  1. Earlier this year our disc golf baskets at Gymkhana Sports Club were vandalized and most rendered useless. In response I began a crowdfunding effort which was able to raise enough money to replace our destroyed baskets. $1000 from the Marco Polo Grant was used towards this. The baskets were built by Pichet Panturat, an excellent disc golfer and metal worker is. The baskets look great and have been performing phenomenally. Although I wished to remain at Gymkhana sports club, after dealing with significant obstacles (to put it mildly) at Gymkhana, I decided that an alternative course was our best option. I contacted many potential sites and eventually decided to move forward with the building of a new course at Sand Creek Golf Club. We built two full layouts (short and long tees) across Sand Creek's abundant and beautiful grounds. We have now been playing at Sand Creek for 1 month and all is going very smoothly thus far. Sand Creek will pair with our other course (Lanna Rock Garden) to host our two main tournaments. The first is the Festival of Flight which takes place in November during Chiang Mai's Loy Kratong Festival. The second is our feature tournament, The Chiang Mai Open, in February. We are currently working with the owner of Sand Creek to create a long-term agreement and it is our hope that Sand Creek will be the home of Chiang Mai Disc Golf far into the future!
  2. $1000 was given to Pichet Panturat who works with schools all over Thailand to send them both discs and baskets. Pichet also contributes a huge amount of his own money to this project! The photos tell more than any words I could write here. Pichet is dedicated to spreading the game of disc golf to the next generation of Thai athletes!
  3. $1000 was also given to purchase baskets for a new disc golf course in Trat Thailand. The course was built by Pi Boi and the baskets once again were built by Pichet. The course has been built and has been operational for many months now. They have already hosted a tournament with another tournament upcoming. Pi Boi is working with schools in Northeast Thailand to create disc golf programs and some of these are already up and running. I sent him a box of new discs (which the PDGA had sent to me) which are now being used by these schools!
