Valarie (Val) was born in 1986 to an already disc-crazed family, so destiny was already at work! She started playing Disc Golf in high school when she began competing in the Amateur Women’s Division.

Her major tournament wins include: 2001 PDGA Junior World Champion; 4-time PDGA FPO World Champion (2007; 2008; 2009; 2016); and 2-time U.S. Women’s Disc Golf Champion (2010; 2011). During her 2000 to 2018 career she had 118 wins out of 315 events entered. Other awards Val received were: 5-time PDGA FPO Player of the Year (2007-2011); 2015 Bob West Memorial Sportsmanship Award; 2004 Rookie of the Year; and the 2012 Steady Ed Memorial Disc Golf Trophy.

A member of the Ohio Disc Golf Hall of Fame, Val recently has been the driving force in expanding women’s involvement and participation in our sport. She was Chair of the PDGA Women’s Committee from 2011 to 2018 and founder of the Women’s Global Event. She was the key organizer of the 2017 Women’s Disc Golf Symposium, a virtual gathering that presented issues and opportunities for women in Disc Golf. Also, she created the website DiscGolf4Women.com.

Val left the Pro Tour in 2018 to create Bevel Craft Brewing, with her husband, in Bend, Oregon. She continues to promote Disc Golf as commentator on livestream broadcasts of Disc Golf Pro Tour events. Now she will do it as a member of the Disc Golf Hall of Fame.
