Ohn Scoggins is seeing the results of her dedication this season.

All she has to do is look at the leaderboard.

No matter the tournament, Scoggins has been near the top throughout the season, whether it’s a PDGA Major, like the 2022 PDGA Tim Selinske U.S. Masters Championships this weekend, Pro Worlds or an Elite Series.

It’s easy to find Scoggins after a tournament round. She’s usually near the practice basket or back on the course, and that’s been the formula this year.

“I believe in hard work,” Scoggins told the PDGA’s Grant Zellner. “I know that I have been working so hard. Doesn’t matter, any tournament that I play, after the round, I go back to the course and putt a lot. Upshots here and there.

“When you work hard and you practice hard, of course it’s going to show up in your game.”

Earlier this year, Scoggins defended her PDGA World title in FP40 and has three top 10 finishes in Open Majors — third at USWDGC, fourth at Champions Cup and, most recently, a seventh-place finish at PDGA Pro Worlds. On the Elite Series, Scoggins has six finishes in the top five, including three trips to the podium.

Her well-rounded game — “I throw sidearm and backhand and that’s a plus” — to go with her trademark putting, paired with her dedication, has her eyeing another PDGA Major title this weekend in the Quad Cities. Scoggins enters Saturday’s third round with a seven-stroke lead over Sarah Hokom.

Good or bad today, it’ll be easy to find Ohn when the round is done today. She’ll be working.

Saturday is moving day ahead of the cut to Championship Sunday in the Quad Cities.

Around the Quad Cities

Dutch Napier torched Camden 2 to the tune of a 1070-rated, 12-under par to jump into a four-stroke lead in a competitive MP40 field. Napier credited his putting as well as a basket hit to his stellar round and said it’s just a matter of sticking to the game plan in the woods and on the hills of Camden 2.

The Kentucky native leads Alan Wagner (-15) by four strokes. Allen Hermossillo went low as well to make the jump to the lead card, which is rounded out by defending champion Brad Schick, who is five strokes back at 14-under for the weekend.

  • In the Pro 50 divisions, a pair of PDGA World Champions grew their leads with two rounds to go. Barry Schultz followed up his 1063-rated opening round with a 1031 second round to grow his lead to seven strokes over Jay Reading, who matched Schultz step for step on Friday at Devil’s Glen Park. In FP50, Juliana Korver leads by 10 strokes over Nova Politte, who jumped to Saturday’s lead card.
  • Thomas Hausmann did just enough to maintain his lead by one stroke at the midway point. Pete Caldwell had the hot round of the division at Camden 1 to jump into solo second place.
  • Mike Ward finished with a 1000-rated round at Camden 1 and is now the solo leader in MP60 with a one-stroke lead over Eric Rainey. Pam Reineke kept her lead in FP60.

  • Joe Gill’s bogey-free 7-under round jumped him into a second-place tie with Japan’s Atsuhito Kawasaki in MP65. They trail Geoff Hungerford by one stroke as the division heads back to Eastern Park.
  • In the Pro 70 divisions, the Voakes — Dr. Rick and Sylvia — are well on their way to adding more PDGA Major titles to their collection. Rick leads by nine in MP70 and Sylvia by a big margin in FP70.
  • One of the tightest battles in the Quad Cities is in MA40, which saw a new leader take over on Friday. Will Russell jumped into solo first place at 6-under overall with Travis Brown one stroke back. Four more players are within three strokes of the lead.

  • Another battle is in FA40 and Amy Meyer did just enough to keep her three-stroke lead. Melanie SanFilippo had the hot round and cut into the lead.
  • It’s a similar story in MA50 as Ben Champion kept his two-stroke lead over Steve Ganz. Jeffrey Roming (-4) and North Sarsfield, with the hot round, complete the lead card.
  • Debbie Polkinghorne cleared the field by eight strokes on Friday and now leads FA50 by five strokes.
  • Scot Estep and Tom Trinidad Jr. have separated themselves in MA55 and are tied at 3-under with two rounds to play. They’re five strokes clear of the field.
  • George Bodiroga and Roger Beachy turned in 989-rated rounds and pulled to within one stroke of the leader in MA60, Scott Conner. Warren Foy rounds out the lead card and is three strokes back.
  • In MA65 and MA70, Mark Houser and Vic Theado each lead by four strokes.
