Ledgestone Kicks Off Final Push to Worlds

Ledgestone Kicks Off Final Push to Worlds

How to Watch the DGPT - Discraft Ledgestone Open

Tuesday, August 9, 2022 - 22:49

Ledgestone is this week, Worlds is this month and that makes for an incredible stretch of disc golf.

August — and the final stretch before the PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships — kicks off in Peoria, Illinois this week for the Disc Golf Pro Tour - Discraft Ledgestone Open, the 11th stop on the Elite Series schedule this season.

For the 12th time, Peoria, Eureka and the surrounding area serve as host to the Ledgestone Open, which includes 200 players on the Elite Series and 2,021 on the A-Tier side this year.

For the Pro Tour, it's a return to Sunset Hills for FPO and Lake Eureka for MPO. Both will also get a dose of Northwood Black for two of the four-round event. On the A-Tier side, 12 more courses are in use.

Calvin Heimburg comes in off his second playoff win this season on the Elite Series at DGLO two weeks ago and a little unfinished business. Heimburg was tied with Ricky Wysocki in 2021 when inclement weather in Eureka forced the cancellation of the final round. That tie makes Wysocki a back-to-back champion at Ledgestone.

Catrina Allen has five wins at Ledgestone overall, but Paige Pierce rolled to an 11-stroke win in 2021 and has won two of the last three. Natalie Ryan makes her Ledgestone debut after taking down her first Elite Series win in Michigan.

Ledgestone has grown into a marquee spot on the DGPT, where the payout and stakes are always high. That's intensified even more this year with the PDGA Professional Disc Golf World Championships less than three weeks away.
