Alan Wagner has now gotten off to strong starts in both PDGA Majors in the Masters field this year.

Now, his goal is to keep it going.

Wagner jumped out to a share of the lead on Thursday as the 2022 PDGA Tim Selinske U.S. Masters Championships got underway in the Quad Cities.

“Pretty good start,” said the Montrose, Iowa native. “I did pretty well at Worlds to start too, so hopefully I can hold it together a little better this time.”

Wagner opened the 2022 PDGA Masters World Championships with the hot round and held the lead through two rounds earlier this year in Peoria, Illinois before stumbling into a 10th-place finish.

Wagner has MP40 wins this season at the Des Moines Challenge and emerged from a six-way tie for first with the win at the Ledgestone Open.

“Just keep my head down and do what I’m doing – not trying to do anything special, just make my putts, keep it safe, keep it straight,” Wagner said.

He’s joined by Andrew Brown as a co-leader through the first of four rounds at Camden 2 in Milan, Illinois.

Chasing them down, just one stroke back, are Brad Schick, the defending U.S. Masters champion, and Joe Rovere, the reigning Masters World Champion. Seven more players are within three strokes as well.

Wagner is off to a strong start along with several others in the Quad Cities, but the work is just now starting.
